Located only paces from Piccadilly Circus, Morrisroe was commissioned to undertake the RC Sub & Superstructure construction for the 260,000 sq. ft. of new commercial and retail space across two eight-storey blocks between Regent Street and Haymarket.
Designed by architects Make for The Crown Estate, Morrisroe’s site work commenced late 2013 with completion in spring 2015.
Typical of Central London projects, careful planning was needed to ensure materials were removed and delivered to site on schedule and without causing disruption to the local community or traffic. Of particular concern to The Crown Estate was site waste and environmental management during the construction process. Using best known practice and working with Balfour Beatty all objectives were met or exceeded.
From the outset, the development was designed with sustainability being a key differentiator, taking advantage of technology-led construction techniques and materials. On completion, The Crown Estate expected the buildings at St James’s Market to achieve at least The Breeam 2011 rating of ‘Excellent’.
