Story

One The Thames, also known as Arundel Great Court is a new and prestigious riverfront development comprising two residential towers and one hotel complex. The development is situated on the bend of the north bank of the River Thames will offer unrivalled views of the Thames as well as some of the most historic landmark buildings in London.

Our work included the construction of a substructure and superstructure reinforced concrete frame. We also managed the completion of underground drainage lightening protection systems.

The client appointed us as Principal Contractor when Carillion went into compulsory liquidation in January 2018. We then completed the substructure and superstructures of all three buildings.

Complex Temporary Works

To secure the existing external walls and roads during excavation (to level 3) complex temporary works were required. These were designed in house by Kingscote Design and installed during and after the main piling package.

Community Consideration

The site was located in a prominent position opposite Temple tube station and alongside Kings College University. We worked closely with Westminster Council to ensure minimal disruption during deliveries. As part of our commitment to the community we carried out significant refurbishment works at nearby Oasis City Farm in Waterloo.

Basement works

As the site was located adjacent to the River Thames, considerable dewatering was required along with a complex temporary works support system to the adjoining roads around the perimeter of the site.  Temporary works were left in place in part until the ground floor had been constructed, over the completed B3, B2, & B1. The basement to B2 and the external walls to the ground floor were cast using waterproof concrete.

Superstructure

The superstructure for the ground floor was split into three towers, West / East residential towers and the South tower (for the hotel complex). The cores were constructed using Jumpform technology with R.C. slabs and floor plates.
