This is an opportunity join a leading UK construction business and to work on some of the nation’s most exciting Construction projects.

Roles & Responsibilities

You will be responsible for overseeing technical and quality aspects of construction works, implementing a range quality and safety processes, and supporting project planning requirements.  Engineers are vital members of the project team.

  • Establishing the level and survey control for the project
  • Setting out detailed works as per the project drawings, ensuring checks are carried out on a regular basis
  • Quality control and record keeping, using the appropriate project information tracking procedures ensuring legal and regulatory compliance  
  • Resolving unexpected technical difficulties that may arise at any time, communicating with the team as appropriate.
  • Controlling drawings and construction specific information to ensure compliance with the client specification
  • Identifying and raising queries and questions from the information supplied from the client

Sequencing of works:

  • Substructure: depth measurements, access to excavations, setting out excavation profiles, monitoring  
  • Verticals: walls & columns will be plumbed via an electronic optical plumb, cast in elements will be set out by measuring in from the plumbed element, access for high-level measurements will be taken from a proprietary access tower/MEWP such as a mobile tower or scissor lift
  • Slump testing and cube making
  • Formwork checking (pre-pour & post-pour)  
  • As built surveys and NCR’s
  • Control of monitoring & measuring equipment
  • Concrete Management forms: notice to pour, advance order form, concrete log, concrete pour history, cube manufacture, concrete curing, cube graph
  • Produce 2 week look ahead in conjunction with the construction manager
  • Produce Site Diaries and Allocation Sheets
  • Giving progress reports to clients and senior managers

Qualifications & Skills:

  • CSCS Card (mandatory)
  • IT skills
  • Previous experience of setting out on civil engineering projects
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations
  • Fully conversant with the use of robotic total station or EDM instruments
  • Experience in using AutoCAD and MS Office
  • Temporary-works co-ordination
  • Commercial awareness
  • Degree/HNC qualified, or equivalent, in civil engineering
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with both clients and staff
  • Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook
