CRASHmas jumper day 2021

December 2021

Where there’s a will…

CRASH Xmas jumper day went ahead with a Spanish twist this year. Maria from accounts was able to showcase her exceptional cookery skills preparing traditional Spanish paella on the premises in an outdoor kitchen. She was assisted by a keen team of paella apprentices from Head Office.

We invited representatives from Kairos Community Trust, a CRASH beneficiary, to join us for lunch and to speak to us about the great work they do, as well as about how CRASH supports them to create homes for people in need of a safe haven to recover from drug and alcohol addiction.

And why not talk about bees…

Social and environmental matters are two sides of the same coin, so it made complete sense to give a platform to Kairos beekeeper, Grace Madden, who has been inspired to take action to support both people and planet with therapeutic bee keeping initiatives at Kairos. Kairos residents are taught the skills to keep bees and to produce honey and other products such as bees wax candles and bee bombs.

Grace spoke passionately about the intelligence and resilience of bees, and about what humans can learn from them, their ability to collaborate and their work ethic perhaps. Learning that it takes one bee an entire year to produce a quarter of a teaspoon of honey made it all the more special when we were invited to sample some of the honey currently being produced at Kairos apiaries across London.
