Typical of Central London projects, careful planning was needed to ensure materials were removed and delivered to site on schedule and without causing disruption to the local community or traffic. 4D Building Information Modelling (BIM) was used to enable the project team to design out or mitigate potential risks and disruption to the public and other stakeholders.
We used 2 slipform rigs to construct the lift and stair core, concurrently with the basement box enabling the steel frame contractor to commence work at ground floor level.
Of particular concern to The Crown Estate was site waste and environmental management during the construction process. On completion, the buildings at St James’s Market achieved Breeam ‘Excellent’.
